Basic: Respect
We are passionately dedicated to providing the secure and respectful beginnings children need for a healthy life. We do this by following Magda Gerber’s Educaring Approach which affirms that caring educates children about themselves and that in the infant-toddler years, caregiving is the curriculum. We demonstrate our respect every time we interact with children. Respecting a child means treating even the youngest infant as a unique human being, not as an object.
Our Goal: Our goal is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that actively supports families and strengthens our community. We aim to provide high-quality childcare and educational experiences that empower children to grow emotionally, socially, and academically. By fostering a sense of trust, open communication, and collaboration with families, we strive to be an extension of the support system parents need, recognizing the unique needs of each family.
A natural curriculum
At the heart of our thinking is a belief that children’s own need and drive to learn can be trusted. The young child’s body and mind has its own developmental agenda and processes, which they should be enabled to find and follow. We want to highlight and trust their natural play drives, aiming for a truly child led curriculum.
Imagination, creativity, science
These are at the heart of children’s natural play. The pleasure of finding things out and of imagining what might be is part of being human and a major purpose of childhood. We see children as scientists and creators at the same time, with feelings and thinking woven inextricably together.
Sensitive observation
Our method, guided by respect for the child’s competence, is observation. We observe carefully to understand the child’s communications and his needs.
The more we observe, the more we understand and appreciate the enormous amount and speed of learning that happens during the first two or three years of life. We become more humble, we teach less, and we provide an environment for learning instead.
Unhurried time
We believe our children need and deserve time to 'be' in nature so to develop their knowledge, love and respect for all the wondrous and diverse aspects of our world. Learning is much more meaningful and effective when children have large periods of unhurried time.
Value and engaging all the senses
We believe children learn about the world by touching, tasting, smelling, seeing and hearing. Sensory play contributes in a crucial way to brain development. We engage all the senses during both indoor and outdoor play with natural and man-made resources which will stimulate the senses and help to strengthen neural pathways in a child's brain.
